The 2019 Fairfield Chamber Member Trick-or-Treat will be happening on Halloween on Thursday, October 31st, during business hours. Come to participating businesses around Fairfield and join in on the Trick-or-Treat fun! Don't forget to stop in at the Chamber to Trick-or-Treat and to play our guess how many candy corn are in the skeleton mug game. For the guessing game, you will fill out a ticket to enter your guess. At the end of the day on Friday, November 1st, the Chamber will pick the winner with the closest guess. The winner will receive the mug of candy corn and $10 Chamber Bucks!

The Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce, Fairfield Economic Development Association, and The Southeast Iowa Union have partnered to present the 2019 Fairfield Mayoral Candidate Forum on Wednesday, October 30th at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. Candidates running for the position of Mayor of Fairfield are: Connie Boyer, Michael Halley, and Ed Noyes.
The Atrium at the Civic Center will open at 6:30PM for a Meet & Greet with the candidates. Light refreshments will be served. The forum will be from 7:00-8:45PM in the Sondheim Theater. This event is free and open to the public. It will be moderated by Andy Hallman of the Southeast Iowa Union. Position Announcement: Event Coordinator Job Description: Seeking a creative, energetic person for planning, developing, and coordinating Chamber events and programs including establishing budgets and timelines, working with committees, creating reports, securing sponsors, and debriefing events to improve their outcomes. The purpose of Chamber events and programs is to create opportunities for members to network with each other and the community at large, provide information and education about relevant and trending topics, build capacity within our member organizations, and celebrate member successes. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter who can prioritize tasks efficiently and enjoys working with people. This position will be part-time, 30+ hours per week to start, with the opportunity to become full-time. We can offer a schedule with some flexibility in a supportive work environment. Skills & Knowledge: Proven customer service skills, event planning experience, enthusiastic personality with people skills, problem solving skills, self-motivated, and organized. Additional valued skills would include strengths in managing various social media, and Chamber management information systems. Additional Beneficial Experience: Historic knowledge of the community, economic development and/or community planning experience. Every session is different but includes expert presenters, panels of community leaders and behind-the-scene tours of Fairfield businesses. By the end of the program, each participant will not only have a well-rounded view of the various business sectors in Fairfield but also have personally connected and networked with Fairfield's top business and community leaders. For the month of October (session held on Tuesday, October 2nd), the Leadership Fairfield class focused on the manufacturing leaders in our community. They toured Agri-Industrial Plastics, Dexter Laundry, The Sky Factory and Paint-Line. All four of these manufacturing businesses are located in Fairfield, Iowa. .
. . On Saturday, October 12th, Leadership Fairfield participants had the opportunity to volunteer at the Habitat for Humanity build site here in Fairfield. Leadership Fairfield participants are required to fulfill a minimum of 6 hours of volunteer work during the class, which comes to a close in April of 2020. . The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize and showcase Fairfield’s appreciation for the manufacturing sector of our economy. The 2019 Manufacturer’s Appreciation Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, October 9th at 11:30am at the Fairfield Golf and Country Club.
Fairfield manufacturers have historically been outstanding corporate citizens and responsible stewards of our industrial tradition. Each year the Manufacturers Appreciation Luncheon offers members of the Fairfield Manufacturer’s Association a podium before the crowd to share information about trends, new developments, and other news regarding their company and products. This event is a highly anticipated networking, social gathering, and business lunch.
