Empowering Those Who Care for Others: “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” Returns This Fall

posted on 8/14/25

Caring for a family member or friend with a chronic condition can be deeply rewarding — but it can also be exhausting. This fall, the Jefferson County Extension Council is once again offering its Powerful Tools for Caregivers program, a free six-week series designed to give caregivers the support, strategies, and confidence they need to care for themselves while caring for others.

Class Details

  • Dates: Tuesdays, September 9 – October 21

  • Time: 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM (lunch provided)

  • Location: Jefferson County Extension Office, 2606 W Burlington Ave, Fairfield, IA

  • Cost: Free, sponsored by Jefferson County Extension

Each week, participants will learn practical tools to reduce stress, solve problems, and communicate confidently when faced with tough caregiving decisions. The program recognizes that caregivers are at their best when they also take time to care for their own well-being.

“Everyone benefits when you take care of yourself,” says the program flyer — and that’s exactly what these sessions aim to help you do.
