posted on 4/28/26

The Fairfield Community School District has named two finalists for its middle school assistant principal position following a comprehensive search process that drew 24 applicants.

Finalists Heather Sisk and Andrew McDonald will visit the district for onsite interviews Tuesday, April 28. Interview teams will be well represented with staff, students and parents providing feedback throughout the afternoon.

Sisk brings 20 years of experience in the Keokuk Community School District, where she currently serves as a school and community liaison. In this role, she has led efforts to strengthen connections between schools, families and community partners. Her work has centered on creating supportive environments that help students grow academically and socially.

McDonald is the the 6th-12th grade band director and fine arts department chair at Highland Community Schools in Riverside, a role he has held since 2020. He is also a member of the district’s middle and high school building leadership team. During his tenure, McDonald has expanded student participation in band and led the jazz band to two consecutive appearances at the Iowa Jazz Championships.

“We are excited to welcome Heather and Andy to FCSD as finalists for this important leadership role,” said Superintendent Zach Wigle. “Both candidates bring strong experience, a commitment to student success, and a clear focus on building positive school communities. We look forward to continuing the interview process.”
