Over in our Facebook wellness group, we’ve kicked off a simple, supportive Protein Challenge—and it’s already sparked some great momentum. The goal? To help members boost their daily protein intake in a sustainable way, with zero pressure and plenty of community encouragement.

We’re sharing easy recipes, progress wins, and tools like a customizable Protein Tracker to help you calculate your personal protein target based on your weight. Whether you're already protein-savvy or just getting started, this is a great way to build habits that actually stick—with people cheering you on.

Here’s a simple analogy:

If your body were a house:

  • Protein is the structure—your bricks, beams, and bolts.
  • Carbs and fats are the electricity and heat—crucial for energy, but they don’t build anything.

Without enough protein? Your house might look fine on the outside, but it starts to weaken from within.

Let’s break it down.

Why You Need Protein (Yes, Even You)

Protein is the raw material your body uses for:

  • Creating hormones that regulate blood sugar and mood
  • Fueling your metabolism
  • Producing digestive enzymes
  • Making antibodies to support immunity
  • Building and preserving lean muscle
  • Supporting healthy skin, hair, and nails
  • Preventing muscle loss—especially important as we age

And here’s the kicker:

Your body can’t store protein the way it stores fats or carbs. That means you need to replenish it every single day through food.

The Health Benefits Go Beyond the Gym

Consistently eating enough protein can:

  • Help stabilize blood sugar and keep your energy steady
  • Support immune resilience
  • Help you feel satisfied after meals, which supports healthy weight maintenance
  • Provide the building blocks for your body’s enzymes, mood-regulating hormones, and cellular repair

In short? Protein helps you feel better, work smarter, and stay stronger—and that’s a win for everyone.

How Much Do You Need?

A great baseline to aim for:

0.8 grams of protein per pound of body weight.

(Not per kilogram—that’s an older recommendation that undershoots the mark.)

But don’t stress about perfection. This is a flexible guideline, not a rigid rule. If you’re currently getting less than that, don’t try to double your intake overnight. Focus on gradual increases and building consistency. That’s where real, lasting results happen.

Two Simple Ways to Get Started:

1. Use a Protein Tracker.

If you haven’t yet, this is the time. A simple tracker (even a notes app or spreadsheet) helps you see what you’re already doing—and where small tweaks can add up. Some trackers even calculate your daily target based on your weight.

2. Reflect on Your “Why.”

What inspired you to start paying more attention to your nutrition?

Is it energy? Strength? Mental clarity? A healthier aging process?

Identifying your “why” gives your habits meaning—and helps them stick.

Whether you’re fueling your next workday or simply trying to feel more energized at home, protein is one of the most foundational (and often overlooked) tools in your wellness toolkit.

No perfection needed. Just awareness, small shifts, and a little consistency.

To stronger bodies and stronger communities,
