FAA Membership Exhibit & Celebration

posted on 1/20/25

The Fairfield Art Association announces its 59th annual Mark Shafer Membership Exhibit Opening and "Celebration of Artists and Art" on Friday February 7, from 6 - 8:00 PM in the Main Gallery at the FA&CC. Members, artists and guests are invited to attend.

Up to fifty area artists have participated in this exhibit in recent years, this year they will be  entering 1-2 artworks each, in any media. As artists and members gather, "Woodchuck Warmers" are served along with a charcuterie table. Throughout the evening you can mingle and learn more about the FAA and what it offers for all ages. Voting for a favorite art entry will also take place.

A brief program and award presentation will begin at 7:00 PM. Mt. Pleasant artist Ann Klingensmith will serve as juror of the exhibit and critique the works after announcing four "Outstanding Art Works". This is a great time to hear about what qualities make an art piece outstanding. Klingensmith was professor of Art at Iowa Wesleyan College for years, holding a B.A. in Studio Art from Graceland College and a MFA from the University of Iowa in Printmaking. She is an award winning printmaker, having solo exhibits regionally and nationally and at the FAA in 2010. Ann was the Featured Artist last year in the Iowa Artisans Gallery in Iowa City.

The FAA Membership Exhibit will remain up through the end of March.

This event is supported in part by the Fairfield Cultural Alliance.
