2025 Barnyard Bash Recap

The 2025 Barnyard Bash was one for the record books! Held on Friday, September 19th at the historic Maasdam Barns, the event drew an estimated crowd of over 1,200 people—the largest attendance yet. The weather was hot for the season, but that didn’t stop families from enjoying an evening full of food, fun, and agriculture-themed activities.
Guests enjoyed delicious pork tenderloins from the Jefferson County Pork Producers, along with burgers and ribeye sandwiches from the Jefferson County Cattlemen’s Association. A record number of lemonade shake-ups and sno-cones were also sold, keeping everyone cool while supporting Fairfield FFA and the Girl Scouts. Thanks to Hy-Vee, there was also plenty of cold water on hand to keep everyone hydrated throughout the evening.
Children had plenty to do with two bounce houses, made possible by generous sponsors Agri-Industrial Plastics and Ryan Holthus Shelter Insurance, along with barrel-train rides, animal exhibits, and interactive activities. A highlight of the evening was the Soil and Water District’s Landowner of the Year Award, presented to the Johnson Family.
We are grateful to the Jefferson County Health Center for providing parking, and to Joe Ledger and the Burkhalter brothers for shuttling attendees to and from the barns. Thank you also to everyone who baked pies for the always-popular pie auction, and to the many who brought animals and demonstrations that made the event hands-on and engaging.
A special thank-you goes to our presenting sponsors, Jefferson County Farm Bureau and Agri-Industrial Plastics Company, as well as to all of our additional sponsors, vendors, the Maasdam Barns Board, Chamber Board, Chamber Ambassadors, and countless volunteers who worked together to make this year’s Barnyard Bash such a huge success.
It was a perfect way to kick off the fall season and a true celebration of Fairfield’s agricultural roots.
