Celebrating Dairy Bar! Emily Harryman knows better than most people that almost everyone loves ice cream! As the owner of one of Fairfield’s landmark businesses known as the Dairy Bar, she is on a first-name basis with many of the people you’ll see in the lines waiting for their turn to enjoy a cone, shake, or one of the many other tasty treats they serve through the little windows of the store that’s been there since 1950. First opening as a Dairy Queen, Emily’s grandparents, Roberta and Harold Mosinksi, and Emily’s aunt, Janet Whitten, bought the business in the early 90’s and changed the name to Dairy Bar, making it a truly local business. In 1996, Emily’s mom, Roberta Mosinski, purchased the business and as a youth, Emily worked in all aspects of the store before taking over the business in 2007 with an original goal to make it at least ten years. With the help of her husband Jeff, and her most regular staff, Joy Messer, Emily’s business continues to thrive beyond that ten-year goal. Emily’s ice cream has been brightening the day for locals and visitors alike for three generations. With Emily’s young daughters Hazel and Eileen already spending time in the store, we may someday see 4th generation keeping the lights on for years to come.
