Leadership Fairfield met at the beginning of the month for their November session. November's session was centered around Health and Fitness. The class listened to a presentation on Emotional Intelligence from Joel Pedersen and then went and toured Jefferson County Health Center in the morning. They enjoyed lunch at the JCHC cafeteria; a small cafe that is open to the public.
In the afternoon, the class traveled to the Ambulance Bay in Fairfield and learned a lot about the daily life of our local emergency responders and paramedics. Iowa is currently a state that does not consider ambulatory services an essential service; meaning they do not receive state funding and function out of personal contracts with the city. Also in the afternoon, the class listened to a panel of local experts presenting on mental health. Fairfield has unique services to offer for those that struggle with mental health issues and unique services to offer for those who are in a caretaker role. For more information on this subject, please contact the Chamber at 641-472-2111. To end the day, the Leadership Fairfield class participated in a fun group activity and discussed the results of taking the MBTI Personality Assessment from last month. Next month, the class will meet on Tuesday, December 3rd.
