Ukrainian Folk Ensemble Yagódy to Bring Powerful Traditions to Fairfield

FAIRFIELD — The electrifying Ukrainian vocal ensemble Yagódy will take audiences on a journey through centuries of Slavic musical tradition when they perform live at Fairfield Arts & Convention Center on Friday, April 3.
Hailing from Lviv, Ukraine, Yagódy (Ukrainian for “berries”) has gained international recognition for their striking reinterpretations of traditional Ukrainian music. Their performances blend ancient ritual songs, folk storytelling, and rich choral harmonies with contemporary artistic expression, creating a sound that is both deeply rooted in history yet vividly modern.
Featuring powerful female vocals and fiercely evocative stage presence, the ensemble transforms traditional material into a dynamic concert experience that is visually and musically compelling. Singing in Ukrainian and drawing from ancestral heritage, Yagódy’s work explores themes of land, spirit, history, and community while inviting audiences from all backgrounds to connect with the emotional depth of the music.
For audiences in Fairfield, the performance offers a rare opportunity to experience living folk traditions from Eastern Europe brought to life by artists who are both guardians and innovators of their cultural heritage.
“Yagódy reminds us that music carries the stories of a people,” said Lindsay Bauer, Executive Director of Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. “Their performance is both timeless and timely, rooted in deep tradition while speaking directly to the present moment. It’s the kind of experience that expands our sense of the world while bringing us closer together.”
