Iowa State Pastel Society Exhibit hosted by Fairfield Art Association

The Fairfield Art Association is hosting the Iowa Pastel Society's annual state wide exhibit titled "Pastel Horizons: Visions From iowa". The exhibit will open on Friday September 5 in the Main Gallery at the FA&CC with a reception from 5-7:00 PM for the artists and guests. Due to travel times for the 16 artists across the state, the reception is earlier than normal and ends at 7:00 pm. The public is welcome to come meet the artists early, and gallery will remail open until 8:30 PM for pastel viewing and final night of bidding on FAA's "Leg Up" summer art installation and vote for favorite leg.
During the day the Pastel exhibit, consisting of up to 48 artworks, will be judged by Fairfield's own pastel master John Preston. The president of the Iowa Society David Yurdin and Vice president Larry Jorgensen will be in town and can answer questions about joining the organization.
The Iowa Pastel Society is a non-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide members and the public with events to promote and celebrate pastelists and the art of pastel. We accomplish this through exhibitions, educational opportunities, live and virtual workshops, plein air events , and networking opportunities with other artists to elevate the art of pastel. Iowa Pastel Society (IPS) is a member of the International Association of Pastel Societies (IAPS), a prestigious organization that promotes the fine art of pastel. Our IPS membership with IAPS affords our own members the opportunity to apply for individual associate membership with IAPS and then have the ability to enter IAPS competitions, reach an international community, and strive for advanced memberships such as signature or master pastelist and beyond
