Serving the community through the Fairfield Beautification Commission
The Beautification Commission was created in 2002 to initiate a community-based beautification effort. It was charged to create goals and set directives for beautification efforts in the community, the primary goal being to develop a welcoming environment for both citizens and visitors alike. Through partnership with local organizations, businesses, and the citizens of Fairfield and Jefferson County, significant projects can be achieved. It is our hope that through our examples we will inspire others to do their part to help beautify Fairfield. Currently, the Fairfield Beautification Commission oversees the plantings in Central Park, the planters and baskets around Central Park and at the Arts and Convention Center, partners with the City Parks and Recreation Department on other landscaping projects such as the entrance signs, coordinates efforts to control graffitti, plans annual clean up days, encourages the maintenance of commercial buildings, and presents the Rose Award to homeowners and businesses that display a high level of landscaping and architectural appeal. The Fairfield Beautification Commission is now seeking members. The qualities that would match with our goals include someone who is proactive, a team player, loves nature, takes pride in our city, and appreciates a harmonious environment. The Commission meets monthly to plan and review its various projects. The term of service is 3 years on a volunteer basis. All commissioners are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Fairfield Beautification Commission, please contact either of our co-chairs. We welcome your interest!
