Nominations Open for Cultural Achievement Awards at FCA Annual Arts & Culture Celebration
Since 2005 when they first helped create a state designated Cultural District in Fairfield, the Fairfield Cultural Alliance has been working to support arts, culture, history, and creative expression in our town. In 2019, the FCA applied for and received redesignation for our Cultural and Entertainment District from the state of Iowa, published the 2019 edition of the Heritage Tour booklet, and organized the second World Fair Field International Festival.
In addition, they are having a Celebration of Arts & Culture, bringing together citizens, artists, entertainers, historians, educators, and businesses who are all part of our cultural community. Everyone interested is invited to come enjoy snacks, lively conversation, music, and reports from our arts and culture community on December 10 at ICON Gallery on the downtown square.
• The celebration is a venue for folks to speak to each other personally and as a group, to let each other know what is going on and to show appreciation of these efforts. • The FCA will report on their activities for 2019.
• Our Mayor (present and Mayor-elect) will give a report on Arts & Cultural progress in Fairfield from the City Hall perspective.
• The FHS JazzX vocal group will perform!
• Cultural Trust Fund Mini-Grant Awards, and who they will be supporting will be announced. • Awards for Cultural Achievement for 2019 will be announced.
Nominations for these awards are now being accepted from the community until Sunday, December 1. Email fairfieldculturalalliance@gmail.com your nominee’s name, contact info, and a description of what they have done to merit recognition.
Come help us honor the talents of our local artists, entertainers, and all those who create beauty and love here in our Great Place, Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa. Doors will open at 7:00 pm for conversation and networking. The program will start at 7:30.
