The Fairfield Art Association announces a new exhibit, "Fairfield Iconic" by photographer Guy Harvey. The exhibit of 20 photographs will take place in the Hallway Gallery in the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center, opening on Friday, June 6th, from 6 to 9 PM. The artist will be present to talk about his photography during his opening reception.

Harvey says, “Fairfield Iconic is a series of photographs taken in the downtown area of Fairfield, Iowa, between the years of 2008 and 2023. Each image communicates a sense of place that once served or still serves community life. The images also have an abstract expression of color, shape, and form that has its interest regardless of the identity of the object. I created the images initially for their abstraction and, in particular, their color, but over time the idea of documenting a sense of place became stronger. I have always been attracted to color photography, inspired by the early masters like Ernst Haas and Saul Leiter, who demonstrated the beauty of vivid color in urban settings.”

This exhibit will be showing through June and July and is sure to bring back some downtown Fairfield memories. The Main Gallery continues the oil and watercolor exhibit by Michael Canas. FAA exhibits can also be viewed during the FA&CC business hours Monday - Friday from 9 AM - 5PM.
