Participate in the 2023 Trunk or Treat Event at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach for Jefferson County will be hosting their annual Trunk or Treat event on Friday, October 27 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds from 5:00-7:30 PM.  This is a change from previous years, as it has been held on a Sunday in the past.  Extension is looking for businesses and organizations to participate and join in the fun by giving out candy, pencils, stickers, etc. to youth who will be dressed in their costumes.

Businesses and organizations who wish to participate can set up a trunk at the event, or they can request a table in the McCleary Building or the Show Arena.  Electricity is available upon request.  We encourage the businesses and organizations to be creative with their displays and will be having a contest this year for the best decorated trunk and table spaces.  We ask that they also keep in mind that this event is focused on youth and younger children, while making their candy selection or setting up a booth that is scary.

In past years, as many as 700 kids have attended this event.  In addition to businesses and organizations giving out candy and other treats to youth, there will be games, a photo booth, and food for youth and their families.  Set-up of booths and tables can occur throughout the day on that Friday, with the event opening up to the public at 5 PM.

If you are interested in having a booth for this year’s event, please call (641) 472-4166 or email Jeri Crile at jcrile@iastate.edu.  Set up for this event is free.  Help us provide free and safe family fun at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds for our annual Trunk or Treat event!
