MIU Men’s Basketball Connects with Young Readers at Market Storytime
Maharishi International University men’s basketball players KeeMaryon Hargrow, Kyle Woods, and Cephas Johnson recently traded time on the court for time with local children at the Fairfield Public Library’s Market Storytime in Howard Park.
The Pioneer student-athletes read with children and families during the Fairfield Farmers Market. Their visit brought new faces to a familiar community gathering and gave young readers a chance to spend time with college athletes who call Fairfield home.
The appearance reflects the kind of program Head Men’s Basketball Coach Romel Bryant is building at MIU. Alongside competition, Bryant has emphasized student-athlete development and relationships with the Fairfield community. Reading at Storytime gave Hargrow, Woods, and Johnson a way to put that commitment into practice.
MIU men’s basketball is preparing for the 2026–27 season as part of the university’s growing athletics program. MIU is now a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, giving Pioneer teams opportunities for national championship competition. For Fairfield families who met the players at Storytime, the coming season offers another way to get to know and support the team.
