JCHC Receives 5 Star Rating for Cleanliness & Communication

posted on 7/8/26

Fairfield, Iowa – Jefferson County Health Center (JCHC) is proud to announce it has earned 5-star ratings in both Nursing Communication and Environmental Cleanliness through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Compare patient experience ratings.
The ratings are based on patient feedback collected through the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, a nationally standardized survey that measures patients’ perspectives of their hospital care experience.

The 5-star Nursing Communication rating recognizes the exceptional care and communication patients received from JCHC nurses during their hospital stay, including how carefully nurses listened, how clearly they explained information, and the respect shown to patients and families. The 5-star Environmental Cleanliness rating reflects patient feedback regarding the cleanliness and comfort of the hospital environment. This also marks the second consecutive year JCHC has received a 5-star rating for Environmental Cleanliness.

“We are incredibly proud of our staff for achieving these 5-star ratings,” said Jacque Bookin-Nosbisch, Chief Nursing Officer at Jefferson County Health Center. “These recognitions reflect the compassion, teamwork, and dedication our employees bring to patient care every single day. Receiving a second consecutive 5-star rating for cleanliness and earning 5 stars for nursing communication speaks volumes about the experience our patients receive at JCHC and the commitment our teams have to creating a safe, welcoming, and compassionate environment.”

CMS star ratings are publicly reported on the CMS Care Compare website and are designed to help patients make informed decisions about their healthcare. HCAHPS surveys are completed by patients after discharge and evaluate multiple aspects of the hospital experience.
Jefferson County Health Center remains committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while continuing to enhance the experience patients and families receive throughout every stage of care.
