Intense Rainfall Causes Four Sanitary Sewer Overflows in Fairfield

The City of Fairfield experienced 4 sanitary sewer overflows on 06-17-2026 due to heavy rain in a short time frame the morning of the 17th. Total rain was 2” in a little over an hour.

The city of Fairfield is working towards eliminating sanitary sewer overflows in the city of Fairfield by completing many improvements in the collection system. We are currently in the design phase of step 4 sewer replacement which will eliminate bottlenecks in the western corridor.

All areas were treated with lime for disinfection
