Indian Hills Opens Commercial Kitchen Opportunity for Food Entrepreneurs
Aspiring food entrepreneurs in Southeast Iowa have a new opportunity to launch or grow their businesses through the Indian Hills Community College Regional Entrepreneurship Center (REC) in Ottumwa.
The REC is currently accepting applications for a 465-square-foot commercial kitchen space located at its entrepreneurship center at 15330 Truman Street. The facility is designed to help startup and early-stage businesses move from concept to production while benefiting from the resources and support available through the center.
The kitchen space includes a commercial kitchen hood with a fire suppression system, three sinks, and a grease trap, making it well-suited for food-based ventures looking for an affordable way to begin operations or expand production capacity.
Beyond the physical workspace, tenants gain access to a variety of business support services. The REC offers business coaching and mentoring, educational resources, and connections to professional and capital resources aimed at helping entrepreneurs succeed. The center also provides practical amenities including Wi-Fi, utilities, conference and training rooms, a staffed reception area, and on-site business advisors.
According to the application materials, the REC works with businesses at various stages of development, from pre-concept ideas and prototypes to companies already offering products and services. Entrepreneurs can receive assistance in areas such as business planning, marketing, operations, financing, product development, and workforce training.
The opportunity may be especially attractive to food producers, caterers, bakers, specialty food manufacturers, and other culinary startups seeking a professional commercial kitchen without the expense of building their own facility.
Applications are available online at the Regional Entrepreneurship Center website. Individuals interested in learning more about the space or the resources available through the REC can visit the website or contact Indian Hills Community College at 641-683-5188.
