Fairfield Schools Share Progress, Priorities and a Vision for the Future

posted on 8/5/26

Fairfield Community School District Superintendent Zach Wigle joined Chamber Talk to share an update on the district’s progress, priorities and plans for the upcoming school year.

During the conversation, Wigle highlighted improvements in student achievement, graduation rates and staff belonging. The district’s graduation rate increased to 92.7%, its highest level in more than a decade, while the dropout rate continued to decline. He credited those gains to the combined efforts of educators, families, school leaders and the broader community.

The interview also explores the district’s financial health and long-term facility planning. Wigle discusses the first phase of improvements at Fairfield Middle School, including a planned addition and changes to the bus loop, along with the district’s goal of maintaining a stable tax levy.

Looking ahead, Fairfield schools hope to become an even stronger “destination district.” That vision includes creating welcoming schools, supporting students at every level and building partnerships with local businesses and community organizations.

Wigle also invites Chamber members and community partners to participate in Destination Fairfield, a celebratory kickoff to the new school year featuring local speakers, trivia, food trucks and opportunities to connect with educators.
