Fairfield Public Library Meeting Room Upgrades Enhance Community Experience
The Fairfield Public Library, in partnership with the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce and local supporters, is pleased to announce significant upgrades to the library’s public meeting room, enhancing its functionality and accessibility for community events.
The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce has purchased tabletop microphones and cords, improving audio options for meetings and events. The library is investing in a new projector that remains visible even when the lights are on, ensuring clear presentations for all attendees. Fairfield Media Center (FMC) will be contributing additional equipment to support the upgrades which will enhance their ability to record/livestream local meetings and presentations held at the library.
Liberty Communications generously volunteered staff time to upgrade wiring in the library’s AV room, enabling outlets for essential equipment to be accessible outside the room. This eliminates the need for renters to access the AV room directly, protecting both people and the library’s valuable equipment while maintaining convenience for public use.
The enhanced meeting space will support a variety of important community events. The Chamber hosts its annual Legislative Forum in this space, and the City of Fairfield plans to present its public budget in the upgraded room, among other gatherings.
“These upgrades to the meeting room are an important first step in our broader Library Renewal Project, which the Board of Trustees launched in 2023 to address both long-term maintenance needs and the evolving ways our community uses the library,” said Library Director Alecs Schmidt-Mickunas. “We’re deeply grateful to our partners for their financial support and for actively using this space—your investment and participation are what make it possible for the library to continue growing as a hub for civic life in Fairfield.”
