Explore, Volunteer and Give Back with Jefferson County Conservation

posted on 11/3/26

Jefferson County Conservation’s latest newsletter highlights opportunities to learn about wildlife, get involved as a volunteer and support the parks and outdoor experiences that make Jefferson County special.

Birdy Brunch Features Project FeederWatch

Birdy Brunch takes place November 2 from 10 a.m. to noon, with a presentation about Project FeederWatch and how community members can participate. A birding walk will follow the discussion, giving participants an opportunity to get outdoors and observe local birds.

Nature Learning for Homeschool Students

Homeschool Adventures takes place November 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This program encourages homeschool students to get outdoors and explore nature throughout the year. This month’s topic is animal camouflage, giving students an opportunity to learn how animals blend into their surroundings.

Connect with Volunteer Opportunities

Jefferson County Conservation is updating its volunteer contact list and welcomes both returning and prospective volunteers. Anyone who has helped in the past—or would like to get involved in the future—is encouraged to complete the volunteer Google Form linked in the newsletter.

Joining the general volunteer list also allows participants to receive notifications about future opportunities.

Become a Friend of Jefferson County Conservation

The Conservation Foundation of Jefferson County, Iowa, has launched Friends of Jefferson County Conservation, a new community giving program supporting local parks, wildlife and outdoor experiences.

Supporters can choose from five giving levels:

  • Individual: $30

  • Family: $75

  • Business: $200

  • Prairie Partner: $500

  • Mighty Oak: $1,000

Each contribution helps create opportunities for people to explore the outdoors, connect with nature and enjoy Jefferson County’s natural resources.
