City of Fairfield Clarifies Upcoming HomeServe Mailings and Optional Service Line Coverage

posted on 8/4/26

Information Regarding HomeServe Mailings

(Fairfield, Iowa – 08/03/2026)

The City of Fairfield would like to inform residents that HomeServe will soon be mailing information to homeowners regarding optional exterior water and sewer service line protection plans.

The mailings are authorized as part of the City’s agreement with HomeServe and are not fraudulent. The protection plans offered through HomeServe are entirely voluntary, and residents are under no obligation to purchase coverage.

Building owners are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water and sewer service lines that run between their building and the City’s main. These privately owned service lines can fail without warning, resulting in costly repairs.

The HomeServe program is only available to residential properties. The City encourages all property owners to review their existing homeowner's insurance policy or contact their insurance provider to understand what coverage they may already have before deciding whether additional coverage is needed. Residents should carefully consider their individual needs and circumstances when evaluating the coverage offered by HomeServe.

The City of Fairfield is sharing this information to help residents understand the purpose of the mailing. Questions regarding enrollment, coverage, pricing, claims, or plan details should be directed to HomeServe using the contact information included in the mailing.
