Chamber Talk: Ryan Swanson and Amy Vetter on Getting Involved in Fairfield

posted on 10/23/26

Behind Fairfield’s Chamber events are local volunteers who help turn community ideas into opportunities to connect. In this Chamber Talk episode, Ryan Swanson of Pilot Grove Savings Bank and Amy Vetter of Jefferson County Health Center share their perspectives as Chamber board members and Loop the Loop Committee co-chairs.

Their conversation with Chamber Director Mendy McAdams and host Jason Strong explores how board service extends beyond monthly meetings. From planning Teacher Appreciation and Barnyard Bash to building relationships with local businesses, volunteers help shape the Chamber’s work throughout the year.

Swanson and Vetter also discuss the thinking behind the Loop the Loop Halloween Hustle: bringing families together, encouraging physical activity, and creating an opportunity for workplace wellness. The conversation offers a look at how a new event develops from discussions about community needs.

Event update: Since this episode was recorded, this year’s Halloween Hustle has been cancelled. The event did not reach the required minimum of 25 registrations by October 21. All registered runners have been refunded, and the Chamber plans to hold the event next year.

Beyond event planning, the guests share why getting involved matters—and how volunteering can become a first step toward helping guide Fairfield’s future.
