Chamber Launches New Online Volunteer Hub to Connect Community with Local Opportunities

The Chamber is proud to announce the launch of a new Volunteer Opportunities tab on its website, designed to better connect residents with the many nonprofits, organizations, and events that make our community thrive. The new resource is now live at: https://fairfieldiowa.com/volunteer/

This initiative was developed as part of a project by the Next Level Leader (Leadership Fairfield 2.0) class, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening community engagement and support for local causes. The idea was brought forward by Alissa Ward (Iowa State Bank), Dr. Pat Jones (Fairfield Dental Clinic), and Barbara Jeffrey (TrafFix Devices).

“We often hear from residents—sometimes just days after an event—that they would have helped if they had known,” said Chamber Director Mendy McAdams. “This new volunteer hub is a direct response to that feedback. It creates a central, easy-to-access place where organizations can share their needs and where community members can find meaningful ways to get involved.”

The Volunteer Opportunities page allows nonprofits and event organizers to post current needs, making it easier than ever to recruit volunteers and spread the word. At the same time, residents can browse opportunities that match their interests, availability, and passions.

As the weather gets nicer and the number of community events increases, so does the need for volunteers. This new platform arrives at the perfect time to help meet that growing demand.

Volunteering not only supports important local efforts—it also benefits those who give their time. Studies show that volunteering can improve mental well-being, reduce stress, build new skills, and foster a stronger sense of connection and purpose. Communities with high volunteer engagement are often more resilient, vibrant, and supportive places to live.

The Volunteer Opportunities page is generously sponsored by AERON Lifestyle Technology, whose support helps make this community resource possible.

The Chamber encourages all residents to explore the new page and consider how they can make a difference. Whether you have an hour, a day, or more to give, there is an opportunity waiting for you.

Nonprofits and organizations are invited to submit their volunteer needs and take advantage of this new platform to reach a wider audience.

Together, we can build a stronger, more connected community—one volunteer at a time.
