Barnyard Bash Brings Businesses, Families and Community Partners Together

posted on 9/2/26

Barnyard Bash has grown into much more than an evening of activities at the Maasdam Barns. It has become a community gathering built around local partnerships, agriculture and opportunities to give back.

In the latest Chamber Talk, Barnyard Bash Committee Co-Chairs Ryan Swanson and Ryan Holthus share what visitors can expect at this year’s event and how it has evolved over the years.

The conversation highlights some of the partnerships that make Barnyard Bash possible, including local businesses, agricultural organizations, youth groups, first responders and volunteers. This year, a partnership with JBS will provide free pulled pork sandwiches for children, with free-will donations from adult meals supporting local 4-H and FFA programs.

Swanson and Holthus also discuss the event’s family-friendly activities, from animals and tractor rides to the barrel train, fire truck and pie auction, along with the behind-the-scenes work required to welcome more than 1,000 people during the event.

Beyond Barnyard Bash, the two Ryans share what serving on the Chamber board has taught them about Fairfield businesses, volunteerism and the many people working to strengthen the community.
