Our Market at a Glance
First organized in 1975, we have become SE Iowa’s most well known farmer’s market. Customers are always pleased, and vendors can’t wait to bring their goods to such a vibrant community of buyers.
The market is intended to provide an opportunity for individuals to sell approved items, which are produced or manufactured by them in their garden, farm or home. Vendors may sell only those products that are approved items and that are grown or made by them.
We are organized as a 501c3 non-profit and manged by a Market Advisory Board. We have expanded to accept vendors from all surounded counties, plus three more counties.
Friendly Local Merchants
All of our vendors are friendly and helpful.
Feel free to talk with them when you visit our market.

Celebrate Local Flavor at Fairfield’s First Fridays ArtWalk – September 5
On Friday, September 5, Fairfield’s First Fridays ArtWalk is teaming up with the Resilient Action Committee to bring you a vibrant celebration of local food, flavor, and community—all centered around the Square!
This special edition of ArtWalk will shine a spotlight on Southeast Iowa’s rich agricultural roots. Local restaurants, and ArtWalk vendors will be serving up dishes made with ingredients grown and produced right here in our region. It’s a true "farm to table" experience—so come hungry, pick up your map of participating food establishments at the Boosting Local Foods Booth and enjoy your evening meal Downtown to kick off the night!
What to expect:
In addition to regular ArtWalk vendors, You will experience a Mini-Farmers Market featuring some of our treasured Market Vendors. A visit to the Boosting Local Foods Booth also brings the opportunity to play Local Food Bingo for fabulous prizes, extra points if you’re wearing overalls! You’ll be able to swap vegetable jokes, seasonal recipes and gardening advice. Snap and share photos at the Selfie Station. Get your VIP Sticker (Can you guess what VIP stands for?) Maybe even see a local personality or two in vegetable costumes!!!
Live music by one of Fairfield’s favorite bands, Adam and the Jimbob Cats, in the Gazebo, starts at 6:00.
Thinking about refreshing your commitment to shopping local? Now is the time. It’s not just about being a good person. It’s about getting more–more flavor, more connection, more joy from the things you already buy. Buying local food is the easiest way to make a difference without trying that hard. Spend $20 at a local market and it circles back to your schools, parks and quality of life. By keeping your money where your life is you get a better town, better services, better connections.
At a time when rural culture often gets erased or overlooked, local food helps people preserve identity with pride. By shopping locally you become a part of something instead of just being a consumer. Make it a habit.
When you know where your food comes from, you trust it–and the people behind it. And that trust seeps into other parts of community life. That’s how rural communities stay strong even in tough times. Local food doesn’t just feed us. It can keep our whole town going.
We all know that Iowa has the soil, the rainfall and the growing season to produce amazing crops. Can we envision a future together where we use our incredible resources to grow food for all of SE Iowa? We’ve got good land and good people. Might as well eat like it.

No singing experience or training is required – just a desire to sing with others and have a good time!
Whether you are an experienced singer or someone completely new to this (and terrified at the idea of it… haha), community singing offers a “no practice, no performance” experience.

Teacher Appreciation event
Fairfield, IASeptember 10, 2025
4:30 pm · 6:00 pm
The educators in Fairfield and the surrounding communities deserve our appreciation. To show our support of educators in the area, the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to host our 4th Annual Teacher Appreciation event on Wednesday, September 10th from 4:30PM-6:00PM at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.
Thanks for MidWestOne Bank for returning as our presenting sponsor.
This year, we are inviting all teachers from Pre-K through 12: Fairfield, Maharishi School, Pekin Schools, Van Buren County Schools, and Cardinal Schools.
Babysitting will be available so teachers can enjoy these 2 hours of fun. Appetizers and cider are available for free to the teachers.
We invite area teachers to come out and enjoy the evening with us. Grab some appetizers and a glass of cider, stock up on classroom supplies, mingle with other teachers from the area, and relax a bit. Childcare is also provided. And best of all, it’s all free for being an amazing educator in our community. Because let’s face it, they DESERVE it!
Reach out to Mendy McAdams at the Chamber to join the businesses supporting those educating our future: Chamber@FairfieldIowa.com (or 641) 472-2111.
Teacher’s RSVPs are needed. Email Info@FairfieldIowa.com to let us know you are coming.
The Teacher Appreciation Event is open to all educators in the Fairfield area, as well as community members who wish to show their support. Admission is free, but registration is encouraged to ensure adequate arrangements.
Teachers deserve our love and appreciation for all they do for our children. We want to eliminate the stress and burden of stocking their room so the teachers can focus on what’s important, our children.
Monetary donations will be accepted as well to get new teacher gifts.

Join us in this happy event every week.

- You'll help create delicious, plant-based meals for all, regardless of their ability to pay.
- Your efforts support our mission to reduce food waste by working with local food systems.

Georgia O’Keeffe: the Brightness of Light is a feature documentary film exploring the life and art of the most important American woman artist of the 20th century. Known as the “Mother of American Modernism,” O’Keeffe exploded on the New York art scene in the 1920s with her paintings of flowers, bones, and the beauty of nature. Nude photographs of O’Keeffe taken by her lover, Alfred Stieglitz, shocked the public and contributed to the perception that her paintings were sexually charged. In the 1970s, O’Keeffe, famously isolated in the New Mexico desert, emerged as an iconic role model for second wave feminists. From Academy Award-winning director Paul Wagner, the film features music by Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch, narration by Hugh Dancy, and Claire Danes as the Voice of Georgia O’Keeffe. Young Artists Class – Reverse Perspective Room Tutorial
Hosted by the Fairfield Art Association (continued from last class)
Join us for a fun and mind-bending art project inspired by Patrick Hughes, the British artist renowned for his remarkable "Reverse Perspective" optical illusions. In this hands-on workshop, we'll create our very own Reverse Perspective Room—a 3D piece of art where the parts that look farthest away are closest to you.
We'll learn step-by-step how to draw, cut, and assemble our rooms, then decorate them with walls, floors, ceilings, windows, and more! The result will be a fascinating piece of art that will impress everyone who sees it.
No supplies or prior experience are needed—bring your creativity and be ready to have fun. By the end, you'll have your optical illusion masterpiece to take home! If you missed last class, don't worry, we will get you up to speed.
The Young Artists Class will meet Monday, September 15, at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center in the same room as the Gift Shop. It will begin at 4:30 and end at 5:45. The following classes will continue to meet every other Monday.
The class fee is $15.00 per child per class, including supplies. We now accept Credit (a 3% Merchant Fee will be added to your credit payment). There is no charge for caregivers, and you are welcome to join as long as seats are available—which is usually the case. All materials provided — bring your imagination and get ready for fun!

In CPDH, players build 100-card singleton decks led by an uncommon creature as the commander, but all other cards must be commons. The format emphasizes efficiency, synergy, and strategic play within tight deck-building restrictions, making it a popular choice for players who enjoy competitive gameplay without high financial cost.

We celebrate uplifting songs with meaningful messages taught in the simple and ancient oral tradition (learning by ear) so that everyone is listening and singing together as a group in no time.
No singing experience or training is required – just a desire to sing with others and have a good time!
Whether you are an experienced singer or someone completely new to this (and terrified at the idea of it… haha), community singing offers a “no practice, no performance” experience.
Bring friends with you! The more the merrier!
