The Jefferson County Parkinson’s Support Group is a Community Group that meets once a month with support from JCHC and the Iowa Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA)- “Strength in Optimism. Hope in Progress.” The group meets the first Thursday of the month at 10 a.m. in JCHC Conference Room C. (Use the McCreery Cancer Center entrance.) The purpose of the group is to learn, engage in discussions with others, share experiences, tips, and ideas about living with Parkinson's disease or being a care partner, provide mutual support, and foster a sense of community. Fairfield First Fridays’ mission is to Celebrate Creativity, Culture, and Community.
CREATIVITY: To continue to develop Fairfield First Fridays as a diverse celebration of all art forms: visual, performing, literary, film, ethnic and historical, accessible to all ages and cultures.
CULTURE: To continue to seek new ways to enhance Fairfield’s cultural community by creating arts-related employment, education, expression and development.
COMMUNITY: To enhance quality of life within the community of Fairfield through the facilitation of events that encourages individuals and organizations to collaborate and celebrate within the community. It has been through these events that FFF has become a significant contributor to Fairfield’s economic development by attracting visitors and tourism, generating increased local spending; yet another powerful way FFF has impacted and improved the quality of life for the community.

Purpose: This is a safe space to discuss our mental health, caring for our mental health, and challenges in caring for our mental health.
Meeting Agreements:
• We take turns sharing one at a time, passing the Speaking Stick clockwise. Only the person with the Speaking Stick may speak.
• Sharing in good faith is required (good-faith sharing is honest, values everyone’s needs, and respects differences and disagreements). We prohibit bigotry and/or discrimination based upon demographics including: race, ethnicity, birthplace, religion, spirituality, anatomy, disability, gender, sexual orientation, class, legal status, politics, etc.
• We use “I statements” to share our point of view while recognizing different views. Examples:
“I believe this happened,”
“I remember her saying this,”
“It seems to me that he was doing this,” etc.
• After sharing, you may ask others for feedback. If you do not want feedback, no one may provide feedback. After feedback is given, the Speaking Stick is passed to the next person waiting to share.
• The facilitator may need to ask someone to wrap up their share or feedback so everyone waiting to share will have time to share.
• We respect people's choices surrounding medication and diagnosis. We value self-determination and mutual support.
• While everyone has the right to refuse feedback, this group is also a safe space to call each other in — asking questions in good faith and sharing information to help meet everyone’s needs. We are all always learning.
• We respect the confidentiality of those here. Who you see here, what you hear here, let it stay here.
• This group is peer-led. It is NOT an alternative to professional mental health care. It is NOT designed to provide emergency services.
Note: These agreements borrow from the Wildfire/Mad Tea House Open Share meeting agreements. These agreements were adapted for this group by Dee Bosold.

This group offers a chance to connect with others who understand the day-to-day challenges of managing diabetes, while learning helpful tips, sharing experiences, and receiving guidance from healthcare professionals. Whether you’re newly diagnosed or have been managing diabetes for years, this group is here to empower you with knowledge, encouragement, and community.
The purpose of the group is to learn, engage in discussions with others, share experiences, tips, and ideas about living with Diabetes or being a care partner, provide mutual support, and foster a sense of community.

Held on the third Wednesday of each month (except January and February) at the historic McElhinny House, these gatherings are a wonderful opportunity to connect with others, enjoy a delicious luncheon, and learn more about our community.
Each month features a special program highlighting a local topic, project, or organization making an impact in the Fairfield area. Annual dues are minimal, and new members and guests are always welcome!
The club also hosts many special events throughout the year, with all proceeds supporting the club and preservation of the historic home. Members are encouraged to participate in, support, and help with events as they are able. In addition to the monthly meetings, members can enjoy involvement in the club’s gardening club and craft club.
