Fairfield, IAJuly 1, 2025
12:00 pm
Just in time for the 4th of July weekend, the City of Fairfield is proud to announce the opening of four new single-user, ADA-accessible restrooms at Chautauqua Park. The restrooms were made possible through the generous funding of the Edd Felgar Estate. An official ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony will take place on July 1, 2025, at noon.
The restrooms were designed and furnished by Romtec, Inc., with construction led by Hooyer Construction of Pella, Iowa.

Event: Fairfield Community Band – Summer Concert Series
Location: Central Park Gazebo, Fairfield Square
Dates: Mondays, July 1 – August 5
Time: 8:00–9:00 PM
Cost: Free and open to the public
Nothing says summer quite like the sound of a community band drifting across the town square. Starting Monday, July 1, and continuing for six weeks, the Fairfield Community Band will fill Central Park with music, memory, and a touch of small-town magic.
Join us at the gazebo each Monday evening from 8 to 9 PM as local musicians share their time, talent, and love of music with the community. These are your neighbors, your teachers, your retirees—coming together to play everything from patriotic marches to toe-tapping swing tunes and sentimental classics.
Bring your lawn chairs, your kids, your grandma. Let the music take you back—or forward—or just help you breathe a little easier for an hour. Ice cream vendors will be on-site to keep it cool and sweet.
Whether you’re a longtime resident or just passing through, this is the kind of night that reminds you why places like Fairfield still matter. Come early, stay late, and soak in a sliver of Americana.

Our Market at a Glance
First organized in 1975, we have become SE Iowa’s most well known farmer’s market. Customers are always pleased, and vendors can’t wait to bring their goods to such a vibrant community of buyers.
The market is intended to provide an opportunity for individuals to sell approved items, which are produced or manufactured by them in their garden, farm or home. Vendors may sell only those products that are approved items and that are grown or made by them.
We are organized as a 501c3 non-profit and manged by a Market Advisory Board. We have expanded to accept vendors from all surounded counties, plus three more counties.
Friendly Local Merchants
All of our vendors are friendly and helpful.
Feel free to talk with them when you visit our market.

Join us in this happy event every week.

🏀 Welcome to Dollar Hoops — Fairfield’s New Pickup Basketball Event! 🏀
Get ready to hit the courts for the very first Dollar Hoops event on Sunday, July 6th from 2–5 PM at the Fairfield Parks & Rec Cambridge Sportsplex. It’s FREE to play for this special opening event!
How it works: Check in at the table on the far court to join the action. You’ll get a randomly assigned jersey color — when your color is called, it’s game time! Enjoy a 5-minute warm-up followed by a 20-minute, nonstop pickup game. Afterward, return your jersey, hang out on the sidelines, shoot around, or jump back in line to play again.
Teams are randomly mixed to keep things fresh, fun, and competitive. Ages 14+ recommended. Games run two per hour with short breaks between.
Come for the hoops, stay for the fun — Dollar Hoops brings local basketball fans together for casual, community pickup games. Don’t miss it!

The Wizard of Oz
Adapted by Jim Caron
Music and Lyrics by Michael McGill , Bob Hubley and David Simmons
The story is as familiar as it is beloved. That nasty tornado carries Dorothy and her canine pal Toto from the friendly confines of her Kansas home to a fabled fantasy of mystery in the land of Oz. Our story begins with the Illusionists who set the scene for the tale you are about to witness. With the help of the Munchkins and Glinda herself, the young Miss Gale and her loyal pooch join forces with the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and, of course, the Cowardly Lion. Off they go down the Yellow Brick Road–side-stepping a Wicked Witch and her ferocious Kalidahs, Sprouts that are far nicer-looking than they act, and the loyal Green Guard–on their perilous journey to find the Wizard and ask for his help. For they are sure his Wizness will grant their wishes and send Dorothy and Toto back to their home–or will he? We’ll never tell. Come see for yourself.

Join us in this happy event every week.

We celebrate uplifting songs with meaningful messages taught in the simple and ancient oral tradition (learning by ear) so that everyone is listening and singing together as a group in no time.
No singing experience or training is required – just a desire to sing with others and have a good time!
Whether you are an experienced singer or someone completely new to this (and terrified at the idea of it… haha), community singing offers a “no practice, no performance” experience.
Bring friends with you! The more the merrier!

No singing experience or training is required – just a desire to sing with others and have a good time!
Whether you are an experienced singer or someone completely new to this (and terrified at the idea of it… haha), community singing offers a “no practice, no performance” experience.

Iowa Farm Bureau’s "Take Root" program helps farmers develop a comprehensive, managed approach for their family farm’s continuation and growth from the roots up – helping ensure that what you’re doing today will create an enduring legacy for future generations.
What will I learn?
Through our Take Root workshops, we examine real-life success stories from Iowa farm families and help you develop strategies to grow your business and secure farm assets for future generations. Take Root is not your typical farm succession meeting; it is the beginning of a process to help you develop a long-term work plan that will help you start, grow and improve your farm operation while meeting your business and family goals - whether you have been farming for years or just getting started.
The program consists of one half-day event to accommodate busy farm schedules.
Strengthen and Secure Your Farm's Future
Topics include:
- Getting the conversation started
- Family communication and business issues
- Fair vs. equal among heirs
- Generational differences and needs
- Goal-setting
- Preparing for and conducting family meetings to discuss farm succession
- Tools and strategies for transferring wealth and assets, while minimizing the estate and income tax impact
- Estate planning concepts
- Organizing and inventorying farm and estate assets
- 24/7 online resources for creating your very own succession plan
Build Your Farm Succession Advisory Team
Topics include:
- Representing your vision with farm advisors
- Asking the right questions to get valuable information
- Interact with a panel of Farm Business Advisors in a dialogue for issues including estate, tax and financial planning, leases and tenant qualities, and beginning farmer opportunities
