From the Friday after Thanksgiving on through the holiday season, the Square is awash in decorative lighting and to kick off the illumination and subsequently the holiday season, the Chamber organizes the Holiday Lighting Ceremony each year. Replete with Santa Claus pulled in on a horse-drawn sleigh with a police escort, traveling carolers, wagon rides for the kids and winner announcements for the gingerbread contest, the Holiday Lighting Ceremony is held the Friday after Thanksgiving each year.The Chamber Christmas Committee’s grand annual accomplishment, the Holiday Lighting Ceremony gives one citizen chosen by the Committee who exemplifies the holiday spirit the opportunity to throw the switch on the lights and the season. It's the time of the year when the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce will honor a deserving individual during their annual Holiday Lighting Dedication Ceremony on November 25th when Central Park will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland. This holiday celebration which typically draws a large audience to the festively decorated Fairfield Central Park is a must-attend event.
