Retired Holiday Candles Offer a Chance to Own a Piece of Fairfield History

For decades, the candles displayed during Fairfield’s Holiday Tradition on the Square have helped create the familiar glow of an old-fashioned holiday season. Now, an online auction gives residents and holiday enthusiasts an opportunity to bring part of that tradition home while supporting its future.

The first auction features 18 retired candles. In all, there are 38 candles, plus one additional candle missing its top, so those interested should watch for future auction opportunities.

For families who have visited the square year after year, these decorations may bring back memories of holiday outings and time spent together. Adding a retired candle to a home display offers a way to carry those memories into a new setting—and share a piece of Fairfield’s holiday history with another generation.

Every purchase supports the maintenance and upgrades needed to keep the Holiday Tradition on the Square glowing for years to come. While these candles are retiring, the work to preserve this community tradition continues.
