Joint Charity Art Auction Benefits Two Fairfield Organizations
Fairfield Arts & Convention Center and Fairfield Art Association will team up to present a charity art auction from December 3 - January 31. Featuring art donated by Iowa State Bank, proceeds from the auction will benefit both organizations.
The 80+ art works to be sold were created by local, regional and national artists, and include originals and prints by Wendell Mohr, Stan Haring, James B. Wilson, Sue Carlson Van Ness, Larry Anderson, Patrick Costello, Gloria Kearney, Charles Peterson, P. Buckley Moss, Isa Moskowitz, Renoir, Nina Renco and others.
The collection was originally curated in 1972 by then-President of Iowa State Bank Charles Eastburn to adorn the walls of the bank’s downtown branch, and includes original paintings in oil, watercolor and pastel, and signed and numbered prints in a range of styles and subjects. Eastburn’s commitment to including local and regional artists influenced many of the downtown Fairfield establishments at the time, and was a boon to many local artists.
“Quite a few of the artworks were purchased from Fairfield Art Association Exhibits,” says longtime Fairfield Art Association member and Volunteer Director, Suzan Bates Kessel. “It was a wonderful way then to support the local arts community, and now a very generous gift to give back to support arts fundraising.”
The auction will be open to the public at Fairfield Arts & Convention Center beginning on December 3rd at the opening reception from 6:30 to 8:30 pm during the First Fridays Art Walk, and will be available to view and bid on until January 31st.
For more information, contact Fairfield Arts & Convention Center at email@example.com, or call the Fairfield Art Association at (641) 919-2121.
