Too many high school students are graduating from high school without knowing all the amazing career opportunities right in their own hometown! On Monday, May 8th Fairfield High School students are invited to Agri-Industrial Plastics from 10:00am-12:00pm on their ‘No School Monday’. Students will hear the story of Agri-Industrial Plastics, all the careers that they offer, have a walking tour of the 340,000 foot manufacturing facility, and wrap up with a free lunch of pizza.

This program is relevant to both students planning to obtain a college degree and those who plan to directly enter the workforce after high school. Students should dress prepared for a walking tour and wear close-toed shoes. Participants will meet at the Agri-Industrial Plastics Main Office at 301 22nd St, Fairfield. Pre-registration is required for the event. Participants should register in the Fairfield High School Main Office by Friday, May 5th at 3:30pm.

The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce is excited about this new opportunity for the community. Chamber Members are already signing up to host and help with sessions in the 2017-2018 school year. For more information, contact Event Coordinator Brittney Tiller at (641)-472-2111 or Events@FairfieldIowa.com.

Celebrate 125 years of Fairfield History! The Carnegie Historical Museum will be hosting a Business After Hours on Thursday, April 27th from 5:00-7:00 pm.

The Carnegie Library was built 125 years ago, in 1892 and is one of Iowa’s 10 oldest museums.  IT was the first of its kins and is considered an Iowa Century Museum.

During the celebration, the Indian Hills level will be open for viewing, including the Buffalo on the stairs and Civil War memorial on main floor. Photos of the original library will be posted for viewing to show the library's interior 125 years ago. Check out updated exhibits, an interactive donation box and new brass numeral plates on the display cases.

Members of the museum board and foundation will be available to answer questions about the museum  and the building's history.  Ask how to participate in the Endow Iowa Tax Credit!

Everyone is invited to join in this anniversary celebration! Cheese, crackers and Cedar Valley Wine will be served.

The Chamber Business After Hours is a free, monthly networking event open to Chamber Members, their guests and the general public.  If you are interested in hosting a Business After Hours, please contact the Chamber at 641-472-2111 or by email at Chamber@FairfieldIowa.com.
