The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to provide Jefferson County residents the opportunity to share their views with state lawmakers during a series of four public forums during the Iowa legislative session.
Monthly legislative forums are held at the Best Western from 7:30-9:00am on the third Saturdays of January**, February, March. For the last session in April, it will be held at the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center from 7:30-9:00am on Saturday, April 20th. Legislators will provide a brief update followed by open Q&A moderated by Chamber Executive Director, Darien Sloat. Coffee and Donuts will be provided to participants. Come to Business After Hours on Thursday, January 17th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Fairfield Community Center, formerly known as the Senior Citizen Center. Food and drinks will be provided. The Fairfield Community Center is located at 209 South Court Street in Fairfield.
The Chamber Business After Hours is a free, monthly networking event open to Chamber Members, their guests and the general public. If you are interested in hosting a Business After Hours, please contact the Chamber at 641-472-2111 or by email at Info@FairfieldIowa.com. The 2018-2019 Leadership Fairfield class just met for their January session. The topic for this month was Culture, with the journal questions of "What makes Fairfield unique?" and "Where do you feel happiest?". The group worked on team building activities and enjoyed a lunch at our local Revelations Cafe & Bookstore. They toured several locations around Fairfield, including; the Argiro Student Center on the Maharishi University of Management campus, the Sustainable Living Center, the Men's Dome, and The Raj in Vedic City. A special thanks to tour guides Bob Markowitz, Sam James, and Mark and Helen Toomey. Additionally, the Leadership Fairfield class had a guest panel attend their session to discuss "Culture in Fairfield". Special thanks to panel attendees Sally Johnston, Denyce Rusch, Karla Christensen, Rustin Lippincott and Marla Brader. Everyone will be looking forward to February's session, Sacrifice.
