Vedic Architecture. 20 Art galleries. Truly progressive. A typical view of a town in Southeast Iowa usually doesn’t include the world’s premier Ayurvedic health spa, a neighboring community which is the newest incorporated town in Iowa and a university with one of the country’s only sustainable living programs. Fairfield’s commitment to arts and culture includes the Sondheim Center’s Way-Off-Broadway series, which in 2008 brought long-run productions featuring Broadway actors like A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, a nationally-renowned film festival, a new library, a dedicated Buy Fresh, Buy Local living food economy and more. Our commitment to sustainable living is as formal as the plain letters which spell it out in our 2012 Strategic Plan and as organic as Abundance Eco-Village, a nearly off-the-grid community of residences dedicated to the preservation and efficient use of energy and natural resources.
