The Artist Series welcomes Forever Plaid Thursday, November 4 at 7:30
p.m. The year was 1964 - America was still riding the waves of
prosperity and innocence of the 50's... James Dean had taught us how to
be cool, Marilyn had charmed us and Elvis had shaken up the world with a
few well-placed hip thrusts. Male vocal quartets were extremely popular
and every high school had one. Forever Plaid tells the story of one
such quartet. On their way to pick up their new plaid tuxedos in
preparation for one of the most important performances of their lives,
the four unfortunates known as "Forever Plaid" are hit by a bus full of
Catholic high school students on their way to the Ed Sullivan show to
see the Beatles. In a fate thick with irony, the Plaids are killed
instantly before ever having the chance to realize their dreams of fame
and fortune. But all is not lost...after years of lingering in the
afterlife, they are given one last chance to return to earth - and lucky
for us, it just so happens that they landed on the Sondheim Stage. The
show is a non-stop tour of humor and foot-tapping music and manages to
cover a lot of nostalgic ground in a very short amount of time. Forever
Plaid will entertain you and is guaranteed to leave a smile on your
face.
